OpenAI has just upgraded ChatGPT-4o with a powerful image generation tool, offering users the ability to create detailed and highly realistic images from simple text prompts—all for free. Naturally, I had to test it out.
I experimented with seven different prompts, ranging from suburban houses and logos to comics, landscapes, and even award designs. The results? A mixed bag, but mostly impressive. Some images looked almost photorealistic, while others leaned more towards digital paintings. The AI also struggled with generating clear text within images, which is a common limitation for models like this.
The tool is intuitive and responsive, easily adapting to different artistic styles based on user instructions. However, during testing, I encountered a few technical hiccups, with some generations failing due to server issues. OpenAI has since introduced temporary rate limits, allowing free users to generate up to three images per day to manage demand.
Despite these minor setbacks, it’s hard to complain when it is available for free. Considering the quality and ease of use, ChatGPT-4o’s image generator could be a game-changer for AI-assisted creativity.
